In the 1940's a major pharmaceutical company was looking for an alternative to gelatin and discovered the film forming properties of vegetable cellulose. Through a process involving temperature and pressure, cellulose could be modified to dissolve readily in the body. For four decades, companies large and small have attempted to harness these properties into a long awaited vegetable base capsule. Supported in part by funding from Solgar Vitamin Company and others interested in the natural health care field, GS Technologies was founded to develop such a capsule. The culmination of six years of research is Northbest Vegicaps, the first non-gelatin capsule. |
